From 2011 Design for Technology will be offered as a major in the Applied Science degree with both a general Design for Innovation stream and a Design for Engineering stream.

Design offers a unique programme which takes advantage of the interdisciplinary study opportunities at the University of Otago. We provide top-notch content in our areas of expertise, you decide ‘what kind of a designer’ you would like to become.
We offer study options ranging from a three year Bachelors degree to postgraduate entry into a one year Honours qualification, the postgraduate diploma, a one or two year Masters and, the opportunity to study a PhD in Design for Technology. Applications for admission to the Master of Design MDes programme are accepted throughout the year. Commencement of the programme is semester one of the following year. Applications are considered as they are received, with places offered on a rolling basis until the programme is full.
Design for Technology teaching is focused around two interlinked and collaborative design streams i.e. Design for Engineering and Design for Innovation.
We conduct research and development across this multidisciplinary environment and in cooperation with other disciplines from this and other universities.
